Generations Research: Are You Looking at Generations Incorrectly?

May 5, 2021

In the PSB Generations study, we have incorporated ‘cusp’ or ‘micro’ generations – six generations, not four. The typical modelhas 15-20 year ranges and on further examination, the older and younger groups within these generations look different so we focus on generations that are ~8-11 years each, including “Jones” and “Xennials” with the breakouts as follows:
• Baby Boomers, 66 to 75 (1946 – 1955)
• Generation Jones, 57 to 65 (1956 – 1964)
• Generation X, 46 to 56 (1965 – 1975)
• Xennials, 36 to 45 (1976 – 1985)
• Millennials, 25 to 35 (1986 – 1996)
• Gen Z, 15 to 24 (1997 – 2006)
